Colby Lewis came up big once again and got the Texas Rangers back into the World Series.

Lewis threw 7 2/3 innings for his third straight postseason victory and Mitch Moreland belted a three-run home run to carry the host Rangers to a 4-2 win over the San Francisco Giants in Game 3 Saturday night.

Josh Hamilton ripped a solo home run as the Rangers notched their first World Series win in franchise history and cut San Francisco’s lead to 2-1 in the best-of-7 series.

Lewis (1-0) allowed two runs on five hits while striking out six and walking two in improving to 3-0 in the playoffs. He blanked the Giants on three hits through six innings before surrendering solo homers to Cody Ross in the seventh and Andres Torres in the eighth.

Darren O’Day got the final out in the eighth before rookie Neftali Feliz closed it out with a perfect ninth for his first postseason save.

After absorbing a pair of lopsided beatings in San Francisco and getting outscored 20-7, the Rangers were desperate to get their offense untracked Saturday.

Moreland provided the early spark for Texas, golfing a two-out, three-run shot off Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez for a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

Hamilton extended the lead to 4-0 with a two-out solo homer in the fifth off Sanchez (0-1), who failed to get out of the inning. He was charged with four runs on six hits while striking out three and walking three.

Ross went deep in the seventh – his fifth blast of the postseason – and Torres homered in the eighth to cut the deficit in half.

Texas will send Tommy Hunter to the mound to oppose Giants rookie left-hander Madison Bumgarner in Game 4 on Sunday night.
