Rookie shortstop Ian Desmond had three RBIs and the Washington Nationals smacked around Tim Lincecum while posting a 7-3 victory over the host San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night.

Desmond singled in a run during Washington’s three-run third inning and knocked Lincecum (5-1) out of the game with a two-run single in the fifth that made the score 6-0.

Lincecum, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, allowed six runs, six hits and five walks in 4 2/3 innings, his shortest outing of the season.

Washington’s other third-inning runs scored on Adam Kennedy’s single and Josh Willingham’s double. Adam Dunn hit a fifth-inning sacrifice fly to account for the other run against Lincecum.

The Giants got on the board on Juan Uribe’s fifth-inning homer. Pablo Sandoval had an RBI double the following inning.

Willingham singled in another run in the seventh for the Nationals.

Washington’s Luis Atilano (4-1) allowed two runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings to send San Francisco to its sixth loss in seven games.
