David Eckstein led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a home run that gave the San Diego Padres a 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Monday.

Eckstein’s homer to left field off reliever Jeremy Affeldt (2-2) pushed the Padres to their fourth consecutive victory. The blast was just the 35th career homer for the 10-year veteran.

Tim Stauffer (2-0) got the win with an inning of relief.

The Padres were two outs away from winning in nine innings before Juan Uribe homered off closer Heath Bell to tie the game.

San Diego took a 2-1 lead in the sixth when Kyle Blanks led off with a triple and scored on Will Venable’s sacrifice fly.

San Francisco tied the game in the fourth when Edgar Renteria doubled and scored on Pablo Sandoval’s single.

Padres starter Clayton Richard pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed one run and seven hits and struck out five in the no-decision.
