David Pauley finally earned his first major league victory and the Seattle Mariners scored the winning run on a fielding error in their 3-2 win over the Cleveland Indians on Friday.

The 27-year-old Pauley (1-4) allowed two runs in six innings as the Mariners improved to 4-1 under interim manager Daren Brown. Pauley entered 0-7 in 18 career appearances (10 starts) dating back to 2006. He earned his first victory in his sixth start for the Mariners this season.

David Aardsma worked the ninth for his 23rd save and fourth in six days.

Cleveland second baseman Jason Donald couldn’t handle a ground ball hit by catcher Adam Moore, allowing Franklin Gutierrez to score the go-ahead run with two outs in the sixth.

Fausto Carmona (11-10) allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings, but lost for the third time in four starts. Every batter in Seattle’s starting lineup had a hit except for Chone Figgins.

The Mariners scored all three of their runs on balls that shouldn’t have left the infield. Russell Branyan’s infield groundout in the first scored Ichiro Suzuki, Casey Kotchman’s infield single in the fourth scored Branyan and Moore’s grounder to second provided the game winner.
