David Price won his 17th game and Tampa Bay hit five home runs on the way to a 14-5 win over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park Tuesday night.

The loss moved the Rays 1 ½ games behind the New York Yankees for first place in the American League East. Boston fell 7 ½ games behind Tampa Bay in the wild-card standings.

The Red Sox took a 2-0 lead in the first inning off Price on a wall-ball two-run double by Victor Martinez. Tampa Bay then scored 14 unanswered runs off a trio of Boston pitchers.

Daisuke Matsuzaka (9-5) took the loss allowing eight runs on eight hits and four walks in 4 2/3 innings.

Price (17-6) allowed just two hits in six innings.

Ben Zobrist and Evan Longoria both had a homer and three RBIs. Dan Johnson, Jason Bartlett and B.J. Upton also homered for the Rays and Carl Crawford had four hits.

Tampa Bay tied the game with two runs in the third inning and then put it away with four in the fourth and six more in the fifth inning.
