Patrick Kane and Brandon Hagel each registered hat tricks and Alex DeBrincat and Seth Jones notched three assists apiece to help the host Chicago Blackhawks top the New Jersey Devils 8-5 on Friday night to stop a seven-game home losing streak.

Chicago ended a three-game skid overall while earning its first victory at the United Center since Jan. 15. New Jersey lost for the third time in four games, as they were outscored 4-1 over the game's final 5:56.

Kirby Dach and Ryan Carpenter scored 41 seconds apart late in the third period to put Chicago ahead 6-4. Kane and Hagel each cemented their hat tricks with empty-net goals.

Special teams boosted the Blackhawks, who finished 3-for-4 on the power play while killing two penalties. Kane added an assist for a four-point night, and Caleb Jones had two assists.

A flurry of three Chicago power-play goals over a 12:35 span in the second period helped the hosts to a 4-2 lead, but the Devils regrouped, threatening to spoil the first action for Blackhawks goaltender Kevin Lankinen in more than a month.

Lankinen made just his 12th start and 14th appearance of the season. After navigating a lengthy bout with COVID-19 in December and January, he fractured his right, blocker-side hand in a Jan. 22 loss at Minnesota and had not played since.

Lankinen made 31 saves on 36 shots, while Devils counterpart Jon Gillies stopped 29 of the 35 shots he faced.

New Jersey trimmed the deficit to 4-3 with 2:17 remaining in the second, as Jesper Bratt beat Lankinen on a breakaway after gathering a Damon Severson pass from behind the Devils' net.

The Devils tied the game with 11:24 remaining in regulation when Jonas Siegenthaler snuck a shot past Lankinen from the far left wall.

Siegenthaler and Jack Hughes had a goal and two assists apiece for New Jersey. Bratt scored twice, and Severson had a pair of assists.

Hagel opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 7:34 into the game, but New Jersey responded with goals from Hughes and Yegor Sharangovich to take a 2-1 lead after one period.

Kane tallied his 50th point of the season with his first goal of the night, a scoring benchmark he has reached in each of his 15 NHL seasons. Friday marked his 56th career multi-goal game.
