OTTAWA -- Defenseman Erik Karlsson took a pass from winger Bobby Ryan to score the overtime winner with 1:26 left and the Ottawa Senators came from behind to defeat the New York Islanders 3-2 on Saturday night at Canadian Tire Centre.

The loss snapped the Islanders' winning streak at four games, while the Senators won second game in a row.

Senators winger Mike Hoffman scored his 10th goal in the last nine games with 36.2 seconds left in regulation.

Hoffman, who was stopped on a breakaway earlier in the period, snapped a shot from the top of the right wing face-off circle that beat Halak on the stick side with the Senators' net empty.

Wingers Matt Martin and Josh Bailey had the goals for the Islanders. Winger Mark Stone had the other goal for the Senators.

Senators goalie Craig Anderson stopped 28 shots, while Halak made 27 saves.

The Senators lost first line center Kyle Turris with less than two minutes remaining when he got tangled up with Islanders center Casey Cizikas. Turns was helped to the dressing room favoring his right leg.

The Islanders took a 1-0 lead into the third period before Bailey upped the count with a power play goal at the 7:02 mark.

From a scramble around the net, Bailey was fed a short pass by winger Mikhail Grabovski and then, with Anderson out of position, held onto it while Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki slid by before firing it into the open cage.

Senators winger Mike Hoffman had a chance to cut the lead in half soon afterward, but he was stopped on a breakaway by Halak.

Finally, Stone scored 18:58 into the period, on Ottawa's 22nd shot of the night, drilling a shot through a crowd to the short side after taking a pass from defenseman Erik Karlsson.

Karlsson, who also assisted on Hoffman's goal, has a league-leading 26 on the season.

The Islanders broke the ice 1:49 into the game when Martin scored his second goal of the season on a fortunate couple of bounces.

Anderson made the first miscue as his clearing attempt along the boards fell right on Martin's blade. He shot toward the Ottawa goal hit the stick, then the leg of Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki before settling in the back of the net.

The Senators had two power plays in the first period but only managed to outshoot the Islanders 9-7.

The Senators left immediately after the game for a meeting Sunday night with the New York Rangers. The Islanders are off until Tuesday, when they take on the Flyers in Philadelphia.
