Stars 5, Senators 4: Rookie defenseman John Klingberg scored twice during a four-goal second period as host Dallas erased a two-goal deficit to halt its four-game losing streak (0-2-2).
Ales Hemsky and Erik Cole each recorded a goal and an assist while defenseman Trevor Daley also scored during the second-period outburst as the Stars beat Ottawa for the sixth consecutive time. Anders Lindback turned aside 34 shots in relief of Kari Lehtonen (three saves) and also notched an assist to earn his first win this season as a starter.
Rookie Mike Hoffman, Clarke MacArthur, defenseman Jared Cowen and Milan Michalek tallied as the Senators completed a 1-2-1 road trip. Bobby Ryan and Mark Stone collected two assists apiece while Robin Lehner made 24 saves in suffering his fourth straight defeat (0-3-1).
With Dallas trailing 3-1 after 20 minutes, Daley ignited the four-goal middle session at 2:38 with a straight-on blast from the point that caught the top left corner of the net before Klingberg beat Lehner from the top of the right faceoff circle just over six minutes later. Cole scored on a tip-in during a power play at 17:19 and Klingberg finished a tic-tac-toe passing sequence with 10 seconds left in the period to give the Stars a 5-3 advantage.
The Senators pulled within a goal six minutes into the third as Michalek knocked in a loose puck in front while on the power play, but they could get no closer. Ottawa scored twice on its first five shots as Hoffman and MacArthur chased Lehtonen and, after Hemsky blew a slap shot past Lindback, reclaimed a two-goal lead when Cowen buried the rebound of Stone's breakaway shot.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Stars C Jason Spezza, who is in his first season with Dallas after 11 with Ottawa, failed to record a shot in his first game against his former team. ... Hoffman has scored seven goals in 11 games to boost his season total to 15, tops among rookies. ... Daley set a career best with his 10th goal, eclipsing his previous high from last season. ... Senators RW Alex Chiasson, acquired in the deal for Spezza, ended his 11-game point drought with an assist.
