Canucks 3, Coyotes 2 (OT): Chris Higgins scored at 3:41 of overtime as Vancouver began its five-game homestand with its third consecutive victory.
Defenseman Jason Garrison and captain Henrik Sedin tallied in regulation for the Canucks, who won for just the second time in seven home games. Daniel Sedin notched two assists and Roberto Luongo stopped 37 shots as Vancouver improved to 6-5-3 in its own building.
Antoine Vermette and David Moss scored for the Coyotes, who fell to 1-1-1 on their four-game road trip.
The Canucks squandered a two-goal lead in the third period but were spared a disappointing loss by a great individual effort by Higgins. After blocking a pass in his own zone, Higgins chased down the puck on the left wing and fired a shot from the faceoff dot that beat Mike Smith (29 saves) to the glove side.
After a scoreless first period, Vancouver got on the board when Garrison beat Smith to the far side with a one-timer from the right point during a power play 1:26 into the second. Henrik Sedin buried a one-timer from the right faceoff dot with 53 seconds remaining in the session for a 2-0 lead, but Vermette and Moss scored 2:21 apart midway through the third to forge a tie.
