Devils 3, Flyers 0: Martin Brodeur turned aside 22 shots for his NHL-record 122nd career shutout to lift visiting New Jersey past Philadelphia.
Adam Henrique scored his team-high fifth goal and Cam Janssen, called up from the minors on Wednesday, provided an insurance tally three minutes into the third period. Jaromir Jagr scored into an empty net with two seconds to play as the Devils halted a two-game losing streak and avenged a 1-0 defeat to Philadelphia on Saturday.
Brodeur improved to 8-0-1 in his last nine against the Flyers and registered his 12th shutout against them by stopping eight shots in both the first and third periods and six in the middle session
New Jersey scored 1:57 into the contest, when Henrique deflected rookie defenseman Eric Gelinas' blast from the left point, ending the Devils' scoreless streak at 151:03. Janssen doubled the advantage at 3:01 of the third as he redirected a shot by blue-liner Adam Larsson past Ray Emery, who made 22 saves after sutting out New Jersey last weekend.
Philadelphia, which has scored a league-low 22 goals, failed on three power-play chances and was blanked for the second time in four games. The Flyers have been limited to two goals or fewer in 14 of their 15 contests this season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Janssen, who had zero goals and one assist in 11 games with Albany of the American Hockey League, notched his fourth NHL tally - and first since March 30, 2011, when he was a member of the St. Louis Blues. ... Flyers RW Steve Downie, who has been sidelined since suffering a concussion in his debut with the team on Friday against Washington, could be back for Saturday's game against Edmonton. ... The Devils placed RW Patrik Elias (upper body), who missed his third straight game, on injured reserve and activated D Peter Harrold on Thursday. C Travis Zajac and D Anton Volchenkov returned to the lineup for New Jersey.
