Jaguars 24, Titans 19: Chad Henne threw a pair of touchdown
passes as host Jacksonville ended its seven-game skid in an AFC South matchup.
Henne, who replaced an injured Blaine Gabbert a week ago, hooked up with Cecil Shorts on a 59-yard score in the third quarter to give the Jaguars (2-9) a 14-6 lead. He extended Jacksonville's advantage near the midway point of the fourth quarter, connecting with Justin Blackmon on a 7-yard score.
Jake Locker, who paced Tennessee (4-7) to a big win over Miami last week, was 22-for-39 for 262 yards. He threw a touchdown pass to Kenny Britt in the fourth quarter which cut the deficit to 21-19, but was picked off with 2:40 left to play and again on a final desperation pass as time expired.Rob Bironas provided the bulk of Tennessee’s offense with four field goals. His 38-yarder less than two minutes into the game put the Titans in front but Rashard Jennings scored from a yard out later in the quarter, giving Jacksonville a lead they never relinquished.
Game notebook: Shorts set a franchise record with his fourth reception of over 50 yards. He has one in each of his last three games. … Locker connected with Damian Williams on a 15-yard pass in the end zone but Williams was ruled out of bounds and the replay was inconclusive. … Josh Scobee hit a 41-yard field goal to cap the scoring. ... Gabbert was placed on injured reserve. … Henne finished 17-for-26 for 261 yards.
