Chad Henne and Tyler Thigpen combined for 304 yards and two touchdown passes as the Miami Dolphins won a battle of backup quarterbacks with a 29-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Ronnie Brown rushed for a score and Dan Carpenter kicked three field goals for the Dolphins (5-4), who picked up their first home win of the season.
Chad Pennington got the start in front of Henne, but lasted just two plays before re-injuring his surgically repaired right shoulder. Henne, whose ineffectiveness over the past few games prompted the move to start Pennington, came on strong by completing his first pass and then handing to Brown for a 2-yard touchdown.
Chris Johnson responded with a 17-yard touchdown run and the Titans (5-4) and Dolphins traded field goals to make it 10-10 at the half.
Carpenter added another field goal to put Miami on top and Henne found Patrick Cobbs for a 13-yard score just over a minute later to make it 20-10.
Vince Young was not supposed to play due to an ankle injury, but was forced into the game when veteran Kerry Collins suffered a calf injury. Randy Moss, who was claimed off waivers by Tennessee during the bye week, had one catch for 26 yards.
