Senior Herb Jones posted a career-high 21 points and Alabama set a program scoring record against a Southeastern Conference opponent in a 115-82 victory over Georgia Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Jones made a career-high three shots from long range to lead five double-figure scorers for the league-leading Crimson Tide (17-5, 12-1 SEC).
Joshua Primo had 19 points, Jaden Shackelford 18, Jahvon Quinerly 16, and John Petty Jr. 13 as the Tide put on a long-range shooting show, hitting 18 of 30 from behind the arc.
Eight Alabama players had at least one 3-pointer with Quinerly canning four to lead the barrage.
Alabama's previous high in an SEC game was 113 points against LSU in 1976.
Freshman K.D. Johnson scored his collegiate high with 24 points and Sahvir Wheeler added 16 to lead the Bulldogs (12-8, 5-8). Toumani Camara (12) and Tye Fagan (11) also were in double figures for Georgia.
The Tide took the lead for good just over five minutes into the game at 13-10 on Jones' layup and free throw and led by double digits the rest of the way after Petty's 3-pointer put them up 39-28 at the 4:21 mark of the first half.
Jones already exceeded his previous single-game career-high of two 3-pointers in the first half. His 17 points at the break also were within two of tying his previous career high.
The Tide led 51-38 at the halftime break and by 20 points, 72-52, just over seven minutes into the second half.
The Tide had nine 3-pointers before Georgia had one on their way to an incredible 11 of 17 from long range in the first half. The Bulldogs made only two of their 19 attempts from behind the arc for the game.
