Jeffrey Carroll of Oklahoma State scored a career-high 29 points, including two game-clinching free throws with 5.5 seconds left that locked up the Cowboys' 73-67 victory over Pittsburgh in the consolation game of the Legends Classic on Tuesday afternoon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Carroll made some key shots in the final moments. He made a three-point play with 54.5 seconds left on a running jumper and a free throw that gave Oklahoma State (4-1) a 66-60 lead over Pitt (1-4).

The guard made 10 of 17 shots from the field, and he sank all seven free throws. Carroll also grabbed nine rebounds.

Carroll was much improved after the team's loss to No. 16 Texas A&M in the first round of the tournament Monday. He scored just four points versus the Aggies, and the Cowboys had just one other player in double figures in this game. .

Pitt fell to Penn State in its first-round game but played better in this contest.

Freshman guard Shamiel Stevenson led the Panthers with 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field.

Overall, Pitt had four players in double figures, including Jared Wilson-Frame (13 points). He made a key three-pointer in the last minute that cut the lead to three.

Pitt led in the early minutes before Oklahoma State slowly began to take over. The Cowboys used a 10-3 run and took a 26-19 lead late in the first half.

Carroll scored five straight points in that stretch, and the Cowboys took a 36-32 halftime lead. Carroll finished with 11 points in the first half but took off and finished with 18 more in the final 20 minutes.
