Air Force 70, No. 20 San Diego State 67: Michael Lyons hit the tiebreaking free throws with 1:30 to play and scored 20 points as the host Falcons upset the Aztecs in Mountain West play.

Kamryn Williams made two free throws with 19.1 seconds left to give Air Force (14-6, 5-2 Mountain West) a three-point lead and San Diego State’s Jamaal Franklin and James Rahon each missed tying 3-point attempts in the final five seconds as the Falcons stunned San Diego State at Clune Arena for the second straight season.

Franklin had 25 points and 10 rebounds and Rahon scored 14 points for the Aztecs (16-5, 4-3). San Diego State was 2-of-19 from 3-point range while Air Force connected of 12-of-30 attempts.

The Falcons used a 19-2 second-half run to take a 59-47 lead with 9 1/2 minutes to play. San Diego State responded with the next six points as part of a 17-5 run to tie the score at 64 on two free throws by Franklin with 2:26 remaining.

Air Force made eight first-half 3-pointers en route to a 35-30 halftime lead. The Aztecs started the second half with a 9-2 run to take a two-point lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Franklin, a junior, has eight double-doubles this season and 21 in his career. … Todd Fletcher had 13 points and five assists and moved into fifth-place in Air Force history with 328 career assists. He passed former teammate Evan Washington (327 from 2007-11). … The loss was just San Diego State’s seventh in its last road 32 games.
