No. 10 Gonzaga 81, Santa Clara 74: Kelly Olynyk scored a career-high 33 points and matched his career high with 10 rebounds as the visiting Bulldogs held on to top the West Coast Conference-rival Broncos.

Olynyk, a 7-foot junior center from Kamloops, British Columbia, shot 12-for-15 for Gonzaga (15-1, 2-0 WCC). Elias Harris scored 11 of his 14 points in the first half, reaching double figures for the 15th consecutive game, and Gary Bell, Jr. finished with 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Kevin Foster scored 29 points to lead Santa Clara (12-4, 1-1). Marc Trasolini scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half for the Broncos.

Santa Clara took a 30-29 lead on a three-point play by Foster with 5:36 remaining in the first half, but the Bulldogs followed with an 8-0 run over the next two minutes and maintained a 41-34 edge at the half.

The Broncos didn’t fold in the second half, cutting the deficit to one on a 3-pointer by Brandon Clark with 13:27 remaining. But Gonzaga answered with another 8-0 run and Santa Clara never got back within a possession.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Foster shot 2-for-12 from 3-point range, leaving him three 3-pointers shy of tying the WCC career record of 363 set by Jeff Fryer of Loyola Marymount from 1987-90. … Santa Clara PG Evan Roquemore, who came into the week 17th in the nation in assists (6.3) and ninth in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.62), finished with seven assists and two turnovers. … The Bulldogs came into the game shooting 69 percent from the free-throw line this season. They made 27-of-30 against Santa Clara (90 percent).
