76ers 95, Cavaliers 92: Tony Wroten nine of his 20 points in the final four minutes, including a key layup with nine seconds left, and host Philadelphia rallied to beat shorthanded Cleveland.

Michael Carter-Williams added 18 points and 13 assists and Robert Covington scored 16 for the 76ers, who trailed by 17 points midway through the third quarter. K.J. McDaniels and Henry Sims contributed 12 points apiece for Philadelphia, which ended a five-game losing streak.

Cleveland played its fifth straight game without leading scorer LeBron James (lower back/left knee strains), second-leading scorer Kyrie Irving (back tightness) didn’t travel with the team and fourth-leading scorer Dion Waiters was lifted from the starting lineup because he was reportedly involved in a three-team trade. That left Kevin Love as the only opening-night starter in the starting lineup against the 76ers and he finished with 28 points while matching his season-high with 19 rebounds.

Cleveland still led by 10 with six minutes left in the game but the 76ers found some footing and Wroten tied the score with an eight-foot runner with 1:59 remaining. Matthew Dellavedova, playing point guard in place if Irving, missed two free throws with 20 seconds remaining, Wroten cashed in on the other end and Dellavedova missed a potential game-winner with two seconds left before Covington sealed the win with two free throws.

The Cavaliers led by 17 on Dellavedova’s 3-pointer with 6:48 left in the third quarter, but that would be their final field goal of the quarter. The 76ers trimmed the deficit to eight entering the fourth and pulled within four on Wroten’s basket with 3:47 left

GAME NOTEBOOK: The starting backcourt for the Cavaliers was the second-year pro Dellavedova and rookie SG Joe Harris, who made his first career start when Waiters was lifted and finished with a season-high 16 points. … McDaniels was drafted 32nd overall last June and Harris was drafted 33rd. … Wroten, who came in leading Philadelphia in scoring at 17.3, shot 0-for-6 from 3-point range and is 10-for-44 in the last seven games.
