Kings 105, Pistons 103: DeMarcus Cousins collected 21 points and 11 rebounds and Tyreke Evans added 15 and seven as host Sacramento kept Detroit winless.
Isaiah Thomas scored 15 points and Jason Thompson had 13 for the Kings, who have won two in a row after opening the season with three straight losses.
Greg Monroe recorded a triple-double with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists for the Pistons, who turned the ball over 17 times and had a four-game winning streak in Sacramento come to an end.
The Kings led by as much as 92-83 with 6:30 left in the game before Detroit made a run, trimming the deficit to 97-95 after Kyle Singler split a pair of free throws with 1:31 left. Marcus Thornton stopped the bleeding with a 3-pointer for Sacramento and Cousins responded to Monroe’s layup with one of his own to keep it a five-point gap.
Brandon Knight buried a 3-pointer for the Pistons with 23 seconds on the clock but Jimmer Fredette hit two free throws and Cousins added another, making Rodney Stuckey’s 3-pointer at the buzzer meaningless.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Pistons have two stops left on a six-game road trip through the Western Conference, with Oklahoma City and Houston coming this weekend. … Detroit reached the century mark for the first time this season. … Seven players finished in double figures for the Kings, including Thornton (11), Aaron Brooks (11) and Fredette (12) off the bench.
