Gerald Wallace had 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting and LaMarcus Aldridge scored 18 as the Portland Trail Blazers won their eighth consecutive home game and handed Dallas its third straight loss with a 104-96 victory Sunday night.
Dallas (53-24) failed to gain ground in remaining 2½ games behind the Los Angeles Lakers, who lost to Denver Sunday, for second in the West. The Trail Blazers (45-32) are 2½ games behind the Nuggets for fifth.
Roddy Beaubois' 20 points paced Dallas, which played without center Tyson Chandler, who sat out because of a sore lower back. Brendan Haywood started in his place and had 11 rebounds and five points.
Shawn Marion scored 19 points and Dirk Nowitzki had 16 for the Mavs but shot just 5 of 12.
Wesley Matthews scored 16 for Portland, and Nicolas Batum added 15.
Dallas finished 34 of 70, with little contribution from guards Jason Kidd and Jason Terry. Kidd was scoreless and went 0 of 6 from the field, while Terry was just 1 of 6 for four points.
