Derrick Rose scored 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting and added 11 assists Wednesday to lead the Chicago Bulls to their sixth straight win, a 106-88 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, who had their nine-game home winning streak snapped.
Luol Deng chipped in 26 points and Carlos Boozer collected 16 and 10 rebounds for the Bulls, who became the first team to beat the Clippers at Staples Center since Atlanta on Jan. 2.
Just a .500 team on the road entering Wednesday’s action, Chicago looked right at home in the opener of a five-game road trip, scoring the first five points of the game and never trailing.
The Clippers kept it close in the first half but missed three straight shots and committed a pair of turnovers out of the break as the Bulls took off on a 15-4 spurt to push the lead to double digits.
Los Angeles cut it to eight points in the final minute of the third period, but Rose drained a 3-pointer on the last possession to make it 82-71 entering the fourth quarter.
Chicago began the final period with a 7-0 burst and coasted to the finish.
Rookie sensation Blake Griffin recorded 32 points and 13 rebounds but was just 4-of-13 from the line for Los Angeles, which embarks on an 11-game road trip Friday that includes three back-to-backs, seven opponents above .500 and carries through the All-Star break and trading deadline.
