Andre Iguodala scored 24 points and the Philadelphia 76ers got contributions from a variety of players en route to a 110-99 victory and the first season sweep of the Denver Nuggets since the 2002-03 season.
Thaddeus Young scored 21 points off the bench and reserves Lou Williams and Evan Turner combined for 23 and nine assists for the Sixers, who held the NBA’s top-scoring team to eight points under its average in bouncing back from a disheartening loss to Memphis on Friday, during which they surrendered a 21-point second-half lead.
Elton Brand scored five points during a 12-0 run early in third quarter to give the Sixers a 67-55 lead with 8:29 left in the period. Denver got within 93-86 with 6:43 left in the game, but Philadelphia responded with an 11-2 run, getting a 3-pointer from Williams and a three-point play from Turner to restore a 16-point edge with 4:16 left.
Iguodala shot eight of 12 from the floor with seven assists and four steals as Philadelphia clinched its second consecutive winning month.
Chauncey Billups scored 16 of his 27 points in the first quarter, and the Nuggets drained seven 3-pointers in the opening 12 minutes but were only able to take a 34-32 lead.
Carmelo Anthony scored 12 points on 3-of-12 shooting and committed six turnovers for Denver, which had a four-game winning streak stopped and concludes a five-game road trip Monday in New Jersey.
