Rockies 2, Marlins 1: Jorge De La Rosa pitched six shutout innings to lead host Colorado to its first victory over Miami in three tries.
Rookie Nolan Arenado and DJ LeMahieu drove in runs for the Rockies, who improved to 3-3 on their 10-game homestand. De La Rosa (10-5) extended his streak of yielding three or fewer runs to eight starts while scattering five hits and striking out five to improve to 6-1 with a 2.65 ERA at home.
Rex Brothers - the Rockies' sixth pitcher - worked the ninth inning to earn his sixth save in seven chances. Donovan Solano had an RBI single in the eighth among his three hits and Jacob Turner (3-3) allowed two runs and six hits in six innings for the Marlins, who fell to a major league-worst 16-35 on the road.
Colorado took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Todd Helton hit a two-out double down the left field line and scored by beating rookie Christian Yelich's wide throw to the plate after Arenado's sharp single to left. The Rockies made it 2-0 in the fifth on LeMahieu's sacrifice fly.
Miami loaded the bases with none out in the seventh against reliever Edgmer Escalona. After Escalona caught Adeiny Hechavarria looking at a low fastball, Josh Outman came on to strike out Yelich, and Wilton Lopez got the dangerous Giancarlo Stanton to ground into a fielder's choice to end the inning.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Helton's 579th double moved him past Wade Boggs and into 18th on the all-time list. ... Marlins CF Jake Marisnick went 0-for-4 and is hitless in eight at-bats over his first two major-league games. ... Miami's Justin Ruggiano struck out as a pinch hitter with two on and two out in the eighth inning and is hitless in his last 31 at-bats.
