Angels 10, Yankees 8: Los Angeles beat New York at its own game, slugging four home runs to salvage the final game of the three-game series in a contest that featured eight homers. The Angels won for just the sixth time in 21 games at the new Yankee Stadium.

Erick Aybar and Albert Pujols homered in the first inning for Los Angeles, Maicer Izturis put the Angels in front with a two-run homer in the sixth, and Mark Trumbo added his team-leading 24th blast in the ninth.

Angels ace Jeff Weaver (11-1), who entered the day with the American League's best ERA, allowed five runs on 10 hits over seven innings to win his fifth straight start since coming off the disabled list.

Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson, Eric Chavez and Mark Teixeira hit home runs for the Yankees, whose 142 homers this season are the most in the majors. New York's Robinson Cano went 2-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to 18 games, the longest active streak in the majors.

The Angels bullpen struggled throughout the series, but right-hander Kevin Jepsen was able to quash a rally in the ninth, getting Rodriguez to pop out with the bases loaded to earn his first save of the season and the second of his career.

Yankees starter Ivan Nova (10-4) failed to record a quality start for only the second time in his last eight outings. He allowed six runs on nine hits over six innings.
