Matt Kemp hit a walk-off, two-run double to give the host Los Angeles Dodgers sole possession of first place in the National League West with a 3-2 victory over the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon.
It was Kemp's second straight game-winning hit. He crushed a three-run home run in the eighth inning Saturday night to give the Dodgers a 3-2 win and pull Los Angeles even with Arizona in the standings.
Kemp's home run Saturday came off Arizona reliever Archie Bradley. With Kemp due up in a key spot again Sunday, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo went back to Bradley, removing closer Brad Boxberger (2-5) to do so. Kemp hit Bradley's first pitch off the wall in center field.
Daniel Descalso gave the Diamondbacks the lead in the top of the ninth inning with a leadoff home run off reliever Caleb Ferguson. Kenley Jansen (1-5) immediately replaced Ferguson and finished off the ninth inning, putting himself in line for the win.
Descalso's home run was his 12th home run of the season, with four of those against the Dodgers.
The Diamondbacks tied the game 1-1 in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Alex Avila. Paul Goldschmidt was originally called out at home plate on a throw from center field by Cody Bellinger, but the call was overturned after a review.
The run was charged to Dodgers starter Walker Buehler, but the fly ball came off right-hander Ryan Madson, who was making his Dodgers debut after being acquired in a trade with the Washington Nationals on Thursday.
Max Muncy gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning with a home run into the Diamondbacks' bullpen in right field off Arizona starter Clay Buchholz. It was Muncy's 31st home run of the season and his seventh since Aug. 9.
Buchholz gave up one run on four hits over five innings, with two walks and four strikeouts. The right-hander had a 19-inning scoreless streak before Muncy went deep.
Buehler pitched 6 1/3 innings for the Dodgers, giving up one run on two hits with three walks and a career-high-tying nine strikeouts.
The Dodgers won three of four games in the NL West showdown series, erasing a two-game deficit after a Thursday loss. The Diamondbacks still lead the season series 9-7.
The defeat dropped the Diamondbacks from a tie for first place into third place. The Colorado Rockies remain a half-game out of the top spot after winning at San Diego on Sunday.
