Miles McBride's game-high 18 points led a trio of West Virginia players in double figures as the No. 14 Mountaineers pounded Kansas State 69-47 on Saturday afternoon in Manhattan, Kansas.
The Mountaineers (10-4, 3-3 Big 12) looked ready to play from the outset. They had not played in two weeks due to COVID-19 protocols, and they conducted their first full practice in two weeks on Friday.
The Wildcats matched their season high with 20 turnovers with 17:45 remaining. They finished with 28, the most in Bruce Weber's nine years as coach.
Jalen Bridges and Taz Sherman added 12 and 10 points, respectively, for West Virginia, which won its second straight game.
Kansas State (5-11, 1-7 Big 12) was led by Mike McGuirl's 15 points and Selton Miguel's 10.
The Wildcats have lost six straight games, with only one loss coming by less than 10 points. They've only had one game postponed, but the Wildcats have not had a full squad the whole season. They were without starting point guard Nijel Pack for the fourth straight game on Saturday.
After trailing big early, K-State pulled to within 36-28 with less than 16 minutes remaining, but West Virginia responded with an 8-0 run, led by two 3-pointers by Sherman to take a 44-28 lead with just over 14 minutes remaining.
The Wildcats didn't pull to within single digits the rest of the way.
The Mountaineers led 24-6 at the 7:50 mark of the half. The Wildcats had five turnovers before the first media timeout and had more turnovers than field-goal attempts through most of the first half.
By the time the Wildcats got their third field goal, they had gone more than six minutes without a point.
Meanwhile, West Virginia shot 12-for-28 from the field in the first half to take a 31-17 lead at halftime. Kansas State's 17 points were its fewest of any half this season.
McBride had 12 points in the first half, while no other Wildcat had more than five points.
