Colorado State 84, Missouri 72: Dorian Green scored a season-high 26 points as the eighth-seeded Rams easily handled the ninth-seeded Tigers in the NCAA Tournament in Lexington, Ky.
Greg Smith and Jon Octeus added 12 points apiece and Wes Eikmeier chipped in 11 for Colorado State (26-8), which dominated on the glass 42-19 despite both teams entering the game ranked in the top five in the nation in rebounding. The Rams advance to face top-seeded Louisville on Saturday.
Phil Pressey scored 20 points, Alex Oriakhi added 16 and Jabari Brown contributed 14 for Missouri (23-11), which lost its first game in the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year.
The Tigers led once - 2-0 - as Colorado State hit its first five shots to run out to a 15-5 lead. The margin was 47-38 at halftime - behind 17 points from Green - and grew as large as 64-47 before Missouri began to chip away.
Brown hit three free throws to cut it to 72-62 and Pressey made a 3-pointer to pull Missouri within seven with 5:08 left, but Pierce Hornung scored four straight points to spark an 8-0 run and the Rams put it away.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The win is Colorado State's first in the NCAA Tournament since 1989. The Rams lost their first game in 1990, 2003 and 2012. … The Rams' 84 points marks their highest total in 14 NCAA Tournament games, and Green's 26 points is the second-highest total in an NCAA Tournament contest in school history. … Colorado State leading scorer Colton Iverson was limited to four points before fouling out, but he pulled down 13 rebounds, four more than all of Missouri's starters combined.
