Scott Martin scored 23 points and Jack Cooley pulled down 17 rebounds as Notre Dame rolled past visiting Delaware State 93-69 in a Progressive CBE Classic regional game on Friday.
The Fighting Irish (4-0) led only 19-18 before a 3-pointer by Pat Connaughton sparked a 16-1 run that extended the lead to 16 with 4:38 to go in the first half.
The surge offset a torrid opening period by Delaware State's Tahj Tate, who scored 19 of his game-high 29 points before the intermission.
Alex Dragicevich scored 18 points and Jerian Grant added 17 for the Fighting Irish, who finished with a 41-21 rebounding edge. Cooley grabbed 10 of Notre Dame's 17 offensive boards.
Notre Dame was playing without suspended forward Tim Abromaitis as well as point guard Eric Atkins, who has missed two straight games with an illness. Both are expected back in the lineup when the Fighting Irish face Missouri in the semifinals Monday in Kansas City.
