A long layoff set up Temple for its first loss of the season,but the Owls wasted no time getting back on track.
Ramone Moore scored 18 points to lead the Owls to a 65-58 victory over Georgia on Friday in a Old Spice Classic consolation bracket matchup in Orlando.
Temple (3-1) was off from Nov. 14 until Thursday when it was knocked off by California in the first round. The only ranked team in the field, Temple shot 33.3 percent and turned it over 16 times against the Golden Bears.
Scootie Randall scored 16 points and Khalif Wyatt added 10 for Temple, which evened the all-time series with Georgia 1-1. The Bulldogs beat the Owls 73-60 in the schools’ only previous meeting in the first round of the 1982 postseason NIT.
Georgia lost to Notre Dame in its opener in Orlando and has now lost two straight.
Gerald Robinson scored 16 points, Travis Leslie had 14 and Trey Thompkins 13 for the Bulldogs (3-2).
The Owls and Bulldogs will wrap up consolation bracket play against either Texas A&M or Manhattan.
