Mississippi State came up with a huge defensive stop to hold on for a 58-57 win over LSU Saturday in Baton Rouge, La.
LSU's Andre Stringer was stripped, before he could get off a potential winning shot as time expired, giving the Bulldogs a much-needed conference road win.
In a tight, back-and-forth SEC battle, Dee Bost made two free throws with 1:59 to play to put Mississippi State up one. That would be the last of the scoring. LSU failed to get a shot off in the last two minutes, turning it over on its final three possessions.
The Bulldogs (12-10, 4-4 SEC) played without senior guard Ravern Johnson, the team's second leading scorer. Johnson was suspended for the game for comments he made on Twitter about a lack of playing time.
Renardo Sidney led Mississippi State with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Riley Benock added 12 points.
Stringer led LSU (10-13, 2-6 SEC) with 16 points. The Tigers have lost six straight games.
