Don’t mess with Texas right now. The third-ranked Longhorns went on the road and hammered rival Texas A&M, 69-49, on Monday in front of a packed house in College Station, Texas.
Rick Barnes’ Longhorns have won seven straight, a run that includes four double-digit wins over ranked teams. Texas A&M has been on the short end of two of those drubbings.
The Longhorns (19-3, 7-0 Big 12) smashed the fading Aggies by 21 points in Austin two weeks ago and had no trouble putting together another emphatic rout. They led by 25 points at halftime and were never seriously challenged by an A&M team that has lost three of four.
Jordan Hamilton led three Longhorns in double figures with 20 points. Texas' talented freshmen duo of forward Tristan Thompson and guard Cory Joseph had 11 and 10, respectively.
A&M (17-4, 4-3 Big 12) has failed to reach 50 points in consecutive losses and shot just 31.5 percent from the field against the Longhorns. Leading scorer Khris Middleton was held scoreless. B.J. Holmes led A&M with 19 points.
