Jordan Hamilton scored 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds as No. 11 Texas took control early and cruised over No. 10 Texas A&M 81-60 on Wednesday to end the Aggies’ 13-game winning streak.
Freshman Tristan Thompson added 18 points and Gary Johnson 14 for the Longhorns (15-3, 3-0 Big 12), who won their third straight game.
Khris Middleton had 12 of his 16 points in the first half for the Aggies (16-2, 3-1). Their win streak was the third longest in the program’s history and the longest since 1921.
Texas sprinted to a 20-5 lead in the first 6:55 of the game, getting eight points from Thompson. The Aggies battled back with a 14-4 run to get within five and trailed 32-26 before the Longhorns ran off seven of the final eight points of the half for a 39-27 lead.
Texas led by as many as 23 in the second half and the Aggies never got closer than 15.
Texas travels to Kansas on Saturday to play the only other unbeaten team in Big 12 play.
