Arkansas shook off a sluggish start and pulled away for an 87-74 victory over Texas-Arlington on Friday in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Razorbacks (10-2) trailed for much of the first half before scoring eight straight points to tie the game 33-33. A 3-pointer by Julysses Nobles just before the buzzer put Arkansas in front at the break 37-34.
Another 8-0 run early in the second half created a 48-37 cushion for the Razorbacks, and the Mavericks (5-7) never threatened again. Arkansas attempted nearly twice as many free throws as Texas-Arlington - 39-20 - and also helped its cause by hitting 10 of 22 shots from 3-point range.
Marcus Britt scored 16 points off the bench to lead Arkansas, while Nobles and Jeff Peterson scored 15 apiece.
Texas-Arlington was led by Cameron Catlett's 17 points.
