Thomas Robinson scored 18 points, and No. 3 Kansas used a huge second
half to post an 82-57 victory over pesky Texas Arlington on Wednesday
and extend its NCAA-best home winning streak to 66 games.
Markieff Morris added 14 points for the Jayhawks (12-0), who scored 46
points in the second half en route to their 41st straight home win
against non-conference opponents.
It wasn’t the typical wire-to-wire blowout fans at Allen Fieldhouse have
become accustomed to, though. The Mavericks (5-6) battled Kansas for
nearly 30 minutes before the Jayhawks sealed it with an 18-5 run.
Texas-Arlington, which hails from the Southland Conference, pulled to
within 40-35 early in the second half. But Kansas finally awoke from
its daze and scored 18 of the next 23 points to take a commanding 58-40
advantage with 12:04 remaining.
The Jayhawks then turned it into the blowout everyone expected.
Bo Ingram had 20 points for the Mavericks, who held a brief 18-13 lead
early in the first half. Texas Arlington trailed 36-28 at halftime.
