Melvin Ejim and Diante Garrett scored 18 points apiece as Iowa State rolled over Chicago State, 104-63, on Tuesday. Darion Anderson added 17 on 6-of-7 shooting for the Cyclones (11-2), who have won five straight.
Iowa State came out on fire, pouring in seven 3-pointers in the first half and shooting 58 percent (18-of-31) to take a 59-26 lead into the locker room. Ejim had the hot hand, hitting 7-of-9 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc to score all of his points before the break.
The second half was no different, as Garrett and Anderson took over and the Cyclones coasted to the finish.
Iowa State’s road gets a little tougher next week when they travel to Virginia before coming back home for one last pre-conference tuneup against Northern Illinois. The Big 12 slate kicks off at Nebraska on January 8.
The Cougars (3-11) have played only four games at home this season and have had to travel to Notre Dame, DePaul, BYU, Wichita State and St. Mary’s in a brutal early schedule. They have two more on the road before coming back home on January 8 to face Utah Valley.
