Eduardo Escobar hit a go-ahead, sixth-inning solo homer to lead the host Milwaukee Brewers to a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night.

Escobar's 25th home run of the season, with two outs off reliever Connor Brogdon (5-4), gave Milwaukee its second straight victory and the series after dropping the opener of the three-game series on Monday.

Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta allowed three runs, one earned, in 3 2/3 innings, but the Brewers bullpen did not allow a run the rest of the way.

Aaron Ashby (2-0) tossed two scoreless innings for the victory. Josh Hader pitched a scoreless ninth for his 30th save in 31 opportunities despite walking two. Shortstop Luis Urias made a diving catch on Andrew McCutchen's line drive to end the game, preventing a hit that would have tied the score.

Milwaukee increased its lead to 12 games in the National League Central over the second-place Cincinnati Reds, who lost at Chicago. Philadelphia remained 2 1/2 games behind the first-place Braves in the NL East, as Atlanta lost to the visiting Washington Nationals.

Milwaukee overcame a first-inning solo homer by the Phillies' Bryce Harper, his 29th, by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first and another in the second.

The Brewers tied the game on an RBI double by Omar Narvaez in the first, then moved on top on a bases-loaded walk to Daniel Vogelbach, but they failed to add on when Lorenzo Cain and Jackie Bradley Jr. struck out to end the inning.

Peralta singled and Kolten Wong followed with a double to start the second. With one out, Peralta scored on Christian Yelich's infield single to put the Brewers up 3-1.

Philadelphia loaded the bases with no outs in the third on two singles and an error by Urias. Harper walked to make it 3-2. The tying run came home on J.T. Realmuto's fielder's choice grounder to short.
