Colorado broke open a close game with a 17-5 run over the final seven-plus minutes of the first half, and then weathered one more Washington run early in the second half as the Buffaloes rolled to a 78-64 win Sunday afternoon in Boulder, Colo.
Colorado (11-3, 3-1 Pac-12) won its fifth straight game and the 300th for head coach Tad Boyle, getting 22 points from Tristan da Silva and 14 from Julian Hammond III. Hammond knocked down all four of his 3-point attempts.
Jabari Walker added 11 points and 13 rebounds. The Buffaloes are 14-18 all-time against the Huskies, but 10-5 at home.
Down 39-28 at halftime and 48-35 with 13:49 to play, the Huskies went on an 8-0 run, including five points from the Pac-12's leading scorer, Terrell Brown Jr. Brown was held to more than nine points below his per-game average, finishing with 12 points on 4-of-16 shooting.
Cole Bajema was 6 of 7 from long range on his way to 18 points to lead Washington (6-7, 1-2). Emmitt Matthews Jr. added 16 points.
da Silva scored 14 of his points in the first half, including three layups and a 3-pointer during the Colorado run that gave them the burst of momentum going into halftime.
Washington made just 36.2 percent of its shots for the game (21 of 58), despite going 10 of 23 from 3-point range. Colorado had a huge edge in rebounding, 47-27, and scored 38 of its points in the paint compared to 20 for the Huskies.
Back-to-back 3s from Hammond put the game out of reach. The second one came with 5:50 to play and extended the lead to 65-49.
