Jamaree Bouyea scored 19 points to lift San Francisco to a 61-60 upset victory over No. 4 Virginia on Friday in the HomeLight Classic at Uncasville, Conn.

Khalil Shabazz had 14 points and Dzmitry Ryuny added 10 for the Dons (2-1), who sputtered out of the gate before finding their range. San Francisco erupted for 40 points in the second half and went 13-for-28 from 3-point range for the game.

Reece Beekman and Justin McKoy each scored 11 points and transfer Sam Hauser had 10 for the Cavaliers (1-1), who saw a halt to their nine-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Shabazz appeared to sustain a left leg injury while delivering a chest pass in the open court with 2:20 expired in the second half. Shabazz needed assistance to leave the court before returning more than six minutes later.

Taavi Jurkatamm and Josh Kunen made back-to-back 3-pointers to stake the Dons to a 51-48 lead with 5:30 to play. A brief Cavaliers' rally was met with an 8-0 run by San Francisco, highlighted by 3-pointers from Shabazz and Jurkatamm on consecutive possessions to extend its lead to 61-54 with 2:13 left.

Beekman made a layup, Kihei Clark added a pair of free throws and McKoy's basket brought Virginia to within one with 34 seconds left.

Kunen front-rimmed a free throw with 10.2 seconds to play, but Hauser's late 3-point attempt fell off the mark.

Virginia bolted out of the blocks by making three of its first four shots to secure an 11-3 lead. Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, they made just one of their next 16 attempts from the floor.

Undaunted, UVA finished the first half on a scoring binge to take a 24-21 lead at intermission.

Both schools shot just 28 percent in the first half, with the Cavaliers going 2-for-8 from 3-point range while the Dons made 4 of 13 attempts from beyond the arc.
