STILLWATER, Okla. -- Minus suspended big man Jameel McKay on Saturday, No. 13-ranked Iowa State focused its attack elsewhere.

Finely focused, that is ... on four players.

The Cyclones got all but three points from their remaining core players, leaning heavily on forward Georges Niang and guards Monte Morris, Matt Thomas and Deonte Burton in a 64-59 win over Oklahoma State.

Niang led Iowa State with 18 points, going for 16 of those in the second half. Morris and Thomas each added 16, while Burton added 11.

The Cyclones (17-6, 6-4 Big 12) shook off a rugged start to end a two-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma State (11-12, 2-8) lost its second straight.

McKay was suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules and did not make the trip. He is averaging 12.4 points and nine rebounds per game.

The Cowboys were also playing shorthanded, with starting point guard Jawun Evans out with an injured shoulder. Evans, the team's leading scorer in conference play, was missed, as Oklahoma State's offense ran ragged.

Guard Jeffrey Carroll scored a team high 18 points for the Cowboys, while forward Leyton Hammonds added 12.

Iowa State got off to a miserable start, making just 1 of 9 shots from the floor with seven turnovers more than 10 minutes in. The Cyclones did not score their first points until Burton drilled a 3-pointer at the 14:13 mark and eventually trailed 12-3.

Still, the Cowboys failed to capitalize and create more distance, owning just a 24-22 lead at the half.

Also cold shooting, Oklahoma State went 5:45 without a point.

The Cyclones finally got going, especially from the arc, fueling a 12-0 run that put them ahead 15-12.

Iowa State's first 18 points came from 3-pointers and they made 6 of 11 from long range in the half. Elsewhere on the floor, they made just 2 of 12.

Hammonds led all scorers with 12 points -- half of Oklahoma State's total. Burton led the Cyclones with eight, while Niang managed just two points while battling foul trouble.

For the half, Iowa State shot 34.8 percent (8 of 23), while the Cowboys shot 37.9 percent (11 of 29). The two teams combined for 15 turnovers.

NOTES: Oklahoma State G Jawun Evans missed the second half of Wednesday's overtime loss at Texas Tech, when the team struggled without him running the offense. His status going forward -- beginning with Monday's game at TCU -- is questionable. ... Iowa State has won three straight times in Stillwater. Before this streak, the Cyclones had not won at Gallagher-Iba Arena since 1988, dating back to the Big Eight Conference. ... Iowa State won its third straight road game, its best road streak since the 2004-05 season.
