Alabama 66, Stanford 54: Sophomore guard Levi Randolph led all scorers with 16 points and grabbed six rebounds as the host Crimson Tide eliminated the defending champion Cardinal in the second round of the NIT at Tuscaloosa, Ala.
No. 1 seed Alabama (23-12), which advanced to play Maryland in the quarterfinals, also received 14 points from reserve freshman guard Retin Obasohan. Junior guard Trevor Releford and sophomore forward Nick Jacobs scored 10 apiece.
Sophomore guard Chasson Randle led fourth-seeded Stanford (19-15) with 11 points. Junior guard Robbie Lemons added 10 and junior forward Josh Huestis tallied nine points and eight boards.
After Randle knocked down a 3-pointer for the game's first points, the Cardinal wouldn't lead again. Stanford shot 25 percent in the first half, falling behind 32-24 by intermission.
With 13:10 to go in the game, the Cardinal cut the deficit to four, but an 8-2 run by Alabama pushed the lead to double digits.
