Alabama 59, Charleston Southern 46: Trevor Releford scored a game-high 22 points and dished out six assists to help the Crimson Tide remain unbeaten with a victory over the visiting Buccaneers.
Levi Randolph added 10 points and Trevor Lacey collected nine points, six assists, five rebounds and five steals for Alabama, which has notched consecutive 5-0 starts for the first time since doing so in the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons.
Paul Gombwer scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Charleston Southern (1-4). Saah Nimley added 10 points for the Bucs, who shot 32.7 percent from the floor.
The Crimson Tide scored the game's first nine points, but the Buccaneers scrambled back and led 18-13 after Gombwer's 3-pointer with 8:55 left in the half.
Alabama closed the half on a 10-2 run, though, and led 36-27 at the break. The Crimson Tide's lead was never smaller than four points in the second half.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Alabama was without one of its top scorers, as Rodney Cooper sat out with shoulder tendinitis.
