Peyton Henry kicked a 22-yard field goal with eight seconds left Friday night as Washington edged No. 23 Oregon State 24-21 in Seattle.
The Huskies (7-2, 4-2 Pac-12) marched 92 yards in 18 plays and 4:25 on their final drive. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. completed 9 of 13 passes for 66 yards on the drive, spraying his completions among five different receivers.
The Beavers (6-3, 3-3) mixed in a key pass-interference penalty to help Washington.
Penix hit on 30 of 52 passes for 298 yards, well below his FBS-leading average of 366.8 yards per game. Passing was affected by swirling winds clocked as high as 40 mph in some cases. The game was delayed for 25 minutes in the fourth quarter when the lights went out at Husky Stadium.
That came shortly after Washington's Wayne Taulapapa tied the game at 21 with a 4-yard touchdown run, his second score of the night, with 11:36 remaining. The teams also engaged in a brief postgame skirmish before cooler heads prevailed.
Ben Gulbranson completed 12 of 19 passes for 87 yards for Oregon State, taking his first loss in four starts. The Beavers got 107 yards on 19 rushes from Damien Martinez but were outgained in total yards 398-262.
Oregon State wasted little time initiating scoring with a game-opening, 75-yard drive that was capped by Deshaun Fenwick's 3-yard run.
The Beavers then maneuvered inside the Washington 20 twice more but failed to come away with points, turning the ball over on downs each time.
The Huskies finally took advantage of one of those defensive stops and went 85 yards in 15 plays to tie the game at 7 on a 2-yard run out of the wildcat formation by Taulapapa with 4:23 left in the half.
However, Washington's next drive didn't turn out quite as well for the Huskies. Penix forced a pass over the middle that Easton Mascarenas-Arnold intercepted and returned 37 yards for a tiebreaking touchdown 1:10 before halftime, giving Oregon State a 14-7 lead at intermission.
The teams exchanged touchdowns in the third quarter, with Penix hitting Jack Westover for a 24-yard score before Fenwick ran 19 yards to put the Beavers in front 21-14.
