Zach Calzada passed for 275 yards and three touchdowns as No. 7 Texas A&M rolled to a 34-0 victory against New Mexico in a nonconference contest Saturday afternoon in College Station, Texas.
Calzada completed 19 of 33 passes with one interception in his first career start for the Aggies (3-0), who won their 11th consecutive game and posted their first shutout since September 2016 against Prairie View A&M.
The 11-game win streak is the program's longest since 1992 and Texas A&M is off to its best start since opening 6-0 in 2016.
Texas A&M is now 13-0 against current Mountain West Conference teams. The Aggies held New Mexico (2-1) to 122 total yards of offense, including only 33 passing yards for Lobos quarterback Terry Wilson Jr.
It took Texas A&M three plays to score its first touchdown on its opening possession, a 26-yard pass from Calzada to Devon Achane. The Aggies needed only one play to make it 14-0, with Calzada hooking up with Demond Demas for a 70-yard touchdown.
The Aggies went up 21-0 on Isaiah Spiller's 5-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Two Seth Small field goals (35 and 44 yards) made it 27-0, and Calzada found Moose Muhummad III in the end zone on a 7-yard fade route with 2:20 left in the third quarter to complete the scoring.
The Lobos didn't run a single play in Aggies territory until the third quarter, and Texas A&M repeatedly hit the Lobos for long gains on individual plays.
Spiller finished with 117 yard yards on 15 carries. Demas had 100 yards on two receptions.
Aaron Dumas had 49 of the Lobos' 89 rushing yards, on 10 carries.
