Nijel Pack hit a long 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left as Kansas State defeated Oklahoma State 71-68 in a see-saw battle Wednesday night in Manhattan, Kan.

Oklahoma State's Bryce Thompson missed the front end of a one-and-one with 38.4 seconds left and the score tied. Kansas State's Markquis Nowell missed a 3-point attempt, but a tie-up gave the Wildcats the ball with 6.1 seconds left.

Pack retrieved the inbounds pass near halfcourt before launching a 25-footer that ended the Wildcats' three-game losing streak.

Pack led Kansas State (11-10, 3-6 Big 12) with 22 points. Mark Smith added 19 points, including 14 in the second half, and eight rebounds, and Nowell scored 12 points.

Thompson led Oklahoma State (10-11, 3-6) with 22 points. Rondel Walker had 18 points, and Keylan Boone finished with 13 for the Cowboys, who took their fourth straight loss.

The Cowboys started the second half with a 9-2 run to tie the score at 41-all. Kansas State responded with a 9-3 run to take a six-point lead, but an intentional foul by Smith gave the Cowboys two free throws and a bucket on the subsequent possession -- all four points from Walker.

When Walker hit a 3-pointer and Boone added a layup 13:51 to go, capping a 9-0 stretch, the visitors were up 53-50.

A 5-0 spurt allowed the Wildcats to retake the lead, but the Cowboys' 7-0 run changed the lead again. Another intentional foul, this time by Oklahoma State, helped the Wildcats erase a five-point deficit, with Smith scoring all five points.

The teams traded buckets until Nowell's two free throws tied the score at 68-all with 1:01 left.

Each team's largest lead of the first half was six points until the final bucket of the period. Pack's 3-pointer completed a 13-0 Wildcats run to give the hosts a 39-32 edge at halftime.

Pack had 10 points in the late-first-half surge, giving him 13 before the break. The Wildcats shot 61.5 percent (16 of 26) from the field in the half before they cooled off to 32.4 percent (11 of 34) in the second half.

The Cowboys had two players reach double figures in the first half, Boone with 11 points and Thompson with 10.

On the night, Oklahoma State outshot Kansas State 47.4 percent to 45 percent from the floor.
