Mamadi Diakite scored 19 points and Virginia snapped No. 5 Florida State's 10-game winning streak by scoring the last eight points in a 61-56 victory on Tuesday night in Charlottesville, Va.

Kihei Clark added 15 points and Braxton Key scored 13 for the Cavaliers (14-6, 6-4 ACC), who earned their second win against a top-10 team this season. The defending national champs defeated then No. 7 North Carolina on Dec. 8.

Diakite added nine rebounds and was 3-for-3 from 3-point range.

Devin Vassell scored 17 points to lead the Seminoles (17-3, 7-2), who lost for the first time since Dec. 3 at Indiana. Florida State missed its chance to tie No. 6 Louisville for most wins in the ACC. First-place Louisville is 8-1, while Florida State and Duke are 7-2.

Momentum turned in Virginia's favor after Clark was fouled hard under the basket with 7:03 to play.

Florida State's 7-foot-1 center Balsa Koprivica was whistled for a flagrant-2 foul and ejected after taking down the 5-foot-9 Clark. Clark made both free throws, and sank two more on the ensuing possession with 6:14 left to move Virginia in front 48-47.

After Key's free throw tied the game for the 11th time, Malik Osborne's three-point play gave the lead back to Florida State at 52-49 at the 4:44 mark.

The Cavaliers stormed back ahead 57-56 on an alley-oop dunk by Jay Huff -- off a feed from Clark -- and a layup by Clark with just under a minute to play. Diakite drained two free throws with 13.9 seconds left to make it 59-56.

The Seminoles missed two 3-pointers in the final seconds, and Key tacked on two late free throws.

Florida State lost for the first time this season (15-1) when leading at halftime, taking a 28-27 lead into the intermission.

The Seminoles couldn't take advantage of 10 first-half turnovers by the Cavaliers, converting those errors into only three points. Vassell led all scorers with 10 points in the opening half.

Florida State scored the game's first eight points and made its first three 3-pointers. Virginia took its only lead of the half at 18-16 on Clark's layup with 5:06 to play.

The Seminoles return to action Saturday at Virginia Tech, while the Cavaliers don't play again until hosting Clemson on Feb. 5.
