Junior forward Paul Reed recorded a double-double with a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead DePaul past Cornell 75-54 on Saturday in Chicago.
Reed made 9 of 12 shots from the field for his fourth double-double this season. He also blocked four shots and added three assists and two steals.
Jalen Coleman-Landis finished with 12 points and Devin Gage had 11 for the Blue Demons (5-0), who are off to their best start since winning their first 16 games in 1986-87.
Five days after a surprising 93-78 road win against Iowa, the Blue Demons added to their breakout season with a fifth straight double-digit victory.
The Blue Demons are in the midst of playing eight games in November, the most in program history.
The Big Red (1-3) never got on track, shooting 6-for-27 on 3-pointers (22.2 percent) to go with 14 turnovers. Terrance McBride led the visitors with 13 points and Jimmy Boeheim had 12.
The Blue Demons quickly went to work against the Big Red, scoring the first four points en route to an 11-3 lead following a jumper by Romeo Weems. Reed's layup padded the lead to 17-7 with 12:28 left until halftime.
The Big Red scored nine straight points, capped by a 3-pointer from Dean Noll to bring the deficit to 17-16. Riley Voss hit a jumper to give the Big Red a 21-20 but Weems' 3-pointer kick started a 10-0 run to give the Blue Demons a 30-21 lead. Gage sparked another by scoring seven points in less than two minutes for a 41-26 edge.
The Blue Demons shot a fiery 51.5 percent (17-33) and tallied nine assists to lead 43-28 at halftime. Weems started the second half with four straight points to put the game out of reach.
