NO. 15 WISCONSIN 63, NO. 9 OHIO STATE 60: Jared Berggren hit the go-ahead 3-pointer and hit a pair of crucial late free throws as the visiting Badgers upset the Buckeyes to avoid a season sweep.

Berggren finished with 18 points and Jordan Taylor added a team-high 19 for Wisconsin (21-8, 10-6 Big Ten), which defeated a top 10 conference opponent on the road for the first time since Jan. 26, 1980.

Even though Wisconsin held Jared Sullinger to just eight points with double teams and physical play for the majority of the game, the Buckeyes’ sophomore standout hit a short jumper to give Ohio State (23-6, 11-5) a short-lived 59-58 lead with 49 seconds remaining.

Berggren responded with a 3-pointer from the left wing 18 seconds later to give the Badgers a two-point advantage.

Berggren then collected a rebound following a wild double-pump 3-point attempt from Deshaun Thomas on the other end and sank both of his free throws after being fouled by Aaron Craft.

Thomas scored a game-high points 23 points for the Buckeyes, who fell into a two-way tie for second place in the conference, two games behind Michigan State with just two remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Thomas hit a 3-pointer on the Ohio State’s first possession – matching the number of 3-pointers the Buckeyes made in the first meeting against the Badgers. He scored 13 of Ohio State’s first 22 points … The Badgers and Buckeyes – the top two scoring defenses in the Big Ten – allowed 41 points combined over the first 10 minutes of the game but just 17 for the remainder of the first half …Sullinger appeared to suffer a lower body injury with just over seven minutes remaining but returned to the game following a timeout three minutes later.
