VIRGINIA 68, WAKE FOREST 44: Mike Scott scored 19 points on 9-of-9 shooting and the No. 20 Cavaliers used a strong half-court defense to throttle the visiting Demon Deacons.
Virginia (19-4, 6-3 ACC) entered the contest ranked second nationally in scoring defense and had no trouble inflicting their pace on stumbling Wake Forest.
The Cavaliers shot 71.4 percent (10 of 14) in the first half, slowing the game down to a crawl to get any shot they wanted. Scott shot 5 of 5 from the field in the first half as Virginia took a 40-19 lead into the break.
Wake Forest had no more success in the second half, falling behind by more than 30 points before Virginia pulled the starters.
Travis McKie scored 16 points and C.J. Harris added 10 for the Demon Deacons (11-13, 2-8), who have dropped five straight to fall into last place in the ACC.
