Georgetown got going in the second half and cruised to an 82-65 win over North Carolina State in the finals of the Charleston Classic in Charleston, S.C.
The teams were tied at 44-44 off a dunk by Georgetown’s Austin Freeman with approximately 15 minutes to go in the game, but the Hoyas (5-0) pulled away from there and rolled to the tournament championship.
Georgetown shot 32-for-69 (46.4 percent) from the floor and pulled down 41 rebounds, 13 of them on offense, to remain unbeaten.
Four players scored in double figures for the Hoyas, led by forward Hollis Thompson with 18 points and eight rebounds. Freeman wound up with 17 points, followed by Chris Wright at 15 points and Jason Clark with 14 points.
North Carolina State (3-1) suffered from cold shooting in the field (24-for-62, 38.7 percent) and 3-point range (4-for-17, 23.5 percent). Richard Howell led the Wolfpack with 12 points, with Lorenzo Brown (11 points) and DeShawn Painter (10 points) also in double figures.
