Josh Owens had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lift Stanford to a 55-41 triumph over Arizona State on Thursday.
Owens was the lone star in a game filled with missed shots, going 6-of-8 from the field for his best offensive showing since scoring 21 points in a loss to Oklahoma State on Dec. 21.
After squandering a double-digit lead in the first half, the Cardinal (9-4, 2-0 Pac-10) put the game away midway through the second half. Leading 30-27, Owens kickstarted a game-clinching 9-2 run with a jumper and capped it with a pair of free throws as Stanford won its third straight game.
Jarrett Mann (11) was the only other Stanford player to score in double digits. Aside from Owens, the rest of the Cardinal starting five combined to shoot just 8-for-29 on the night.
Trent Lockett, Ruslan Pateev and Carrick Felix each had 10 points to lead the Sun Devils (8-6, 1-2 Pac-10), who were held to a season low in points.
Arizona shot just 37 percent from the field; Stanford was modestly better at 40.4 percent.
