Warriors 104, Pistons 97:
Klay Thompson broke out of a slump with 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting as visiting Golden State took over in the third quarter and held off Detroit.

Stephen Curry recorded his fourth straight double-double with 22 points and 10 assists while David Lee added 20 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double in the last three contests for the Warriors, who exploded for 39 points in the third.

Tayshaun Prince scored 24 points, Rodney Stuckey had 17 off the bench and rookie Andre Drummond recorded 15 and 12 rebounds for the Pistons, who had their five-game home winning streak come to an end.

The Warriors led by two points at the half and quickly took control in the third, getting six points from Curry and eight from Thompson during a 16-7 run that saw them score on six straight possessions. Thompson and Curry buried back-to-back 3-pointers to give Golden State a double-digit lead at 64-52 that would stretch to as much as 79-61 on another 3-pointer by Thompson to close the period.

As well as the Warriors shot in the third quarter, Detroit was nearly as sharp late in the fourth. Trailing 94-77 after Curry’s 3-pointer with 5:35 left, the Pistons went on an 18-4 run and pulled within 98-95 after Prince’s 3-pointer with 1:07 to play.

But Jarrett Jack hit two free throws and Thompson made a steal, leading to two free throws by Curry as Golden State clinched it at the line.

Thompson totaled 19 points in the decisive third quarter. The second-year guard connected on just 11 of 35 shots (31 percent) in the previous two games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Warriors were playing the opener of a seven-game road trip. … Pistons G Brandon Knight went 1-of-9 from the field, including 1-of-7 from 3-point range. Knight missed three 3-pointers, had a shot blocked and committed a turnover in the final minute. … Prince was the only Detroit starter to reach double figures, but all four reserves scored at least 10 points for the Pistons.
